What to ask your home builder?
Whether you have lots of questions about building your new home, or you’re not sure what questions to ask, we want to give you the confidence in your decision to build a beautiful Dale Alcock Home. That’s why we’ve put together a list of questions that we’re often asked and which you can discuss further with your New Homes Consultant.
What’s your experience and reputation? How many homes have you built?
Since 1987, we’ve built thousands of homes for thousands of happy customers. Homes we’re still proud of today. That’s why we’re one of the most trusted and award-winning home builders in Perth and the South West.
We’re also backed by the ABN Group, owned and managed by Dale Alcock. The ABN Group has built over 80,000 homes over 40 years, so you can have peace of mind we’re here to stay. We’ve been through many building cycles so when we make decisions, they’re based on tried and tested experience.
Is the price of my home fixed?
We are pleased to offer Fixed Price HIA Contracts and Fixed Site Works for all our ‘greenfield’ customers. We also offer a 6-month price hold period giving you peace of mind when you build with us. We’ll be upfront and honest about the cost of your home from the start and will work with you on what you can expect knowing your financial position.
How long will it take to build my home?
We’ll be upfront and transparent on what you can expect the timeframe for your home to be, once you’ve selected an area to build in. We will endeavour to build your home as quickly as possible, with quality and safety being our main priority.
What’s not included?
This may be the better question to ask than ‘what is included?’. View our extensive build specification list and visit one of our beautiful Display Homes to see the high quality brands and huge range of products we use in real life.
What are your quality standards?
We secure quality trades and suppliers for the best results, and have a strict safety program ‘Work Safe. Home Safe’. We only partner with trades who value compliance and the quality of their craft so we can deliver your home safely and to the quality you expect.
What level of expertise will I get to help me during the Selections meeting?
From our place to yours. Home Collective, our state-of-the-art home building display centre in Leederville and Bunbury, offers an unrivalled customer experience where you can touch, feel and see everything you’ll choose for your new home. Plus, all our Home Collective Consultants are either qualified interior designers or studying to be one, so you know you’ll have the expertise to help your home reflect your style and personality.
What after-care service can I expect?
Your building journey doesn’t finish once your keys are handed over – you need to feel confident you’re in safe hands beyond just the construction of your home. Home Assist (part of the ABN Group) is a dedicated service division set up to manage the full aftercare of your home, including warranty period work, beyond warranty period work, home service and repairs. Also ask us about our 12-month service program and 25-year structural warranty. No matter what your concern is, we’ve faced it and are happy to help.
Do you have the correct insurances in place to build my home?
Indemnity Insurance must suit the number of homes being built at any one time. Our strong position during unprecedented times has enabled
us to increase the ceiling of our Indemnity Insurance, which means we have no delays in getting homes to site whilst we wait for other homes to finish. If your builder can’t assure this, it could cost you time and money.
Can you help me find land?
Our long-standing relationships with land developers means our clients can access exclusive land that isn’t for sale anywhere else, or before public release of new stages. We’ll work with you to find the right block that won’t compromise your home design or your budget.
Do you have an in-house broker?
Resolve Finance is an award-winning construction loan specialist and part of the ABN group. They have access to ABN-only products like our
savings program – My Home Plan. They can facilitate loans with over 30 lenders. Being part of the ABN Group allows for quicker solutions for you.
Do you have quality trades and materials available to build my home?
The ABN Group owns and controls our own service companies with vertical integration across plumbing, ceilings, concrete, roofing and kitchens. In a market where there is disruption, this is crucial. It means we can prioritise client homes and get things moving quicker for you. We also have National Supply Agreements to get priority access to building materials. The ABN Group only uses quality products underpinned by known brands and established companies.
