Kitchen Splashback Inspiration
Our six favourite splashback ideas
When you’re designing your dream kitchen there is so much to think about. One of those things is choosing the right splashback style to suit your kitchens look. Your splashback can make or break your kitchen so it’s important to be familiar with a few different styles.
We’ve pulled together some of our favourite splashback styles to help you pick the right one for your new home!
The Herringbone pattern has always been a very popular tile and makes for a striking kitchen splashback! We love this glossy herringbone pattern in our Mount Lawley home renovation, helping to create a modern and stylish looking kitchen.
Dale Alcock Preconstruction Coordinator Tanya Papalii shared her reason for loving this look: “Everyone loves a Herringbone Pattern! The pattern itself is very eye catching. If you are wanting a minimalist Kitchen, a simple tile laid in the Herrington pattern will just add a beautiful feature without going over the top.”

Be bold and brave and spice up your kitchen with a splash of colour! Bold colours will also soften up dark or neutral tones in your kitchen. Check out this turquoise square pattern splashback which balances perfectly with the neutral tones of the kitchen.
Kitchen Designer Hannah Duggan at The Maker shared her thoughts on this style: “This splashback shows a perfect example of how asymmetrical design works beautifully in your kitchen space, the addition of a bright and bold colour creates a contrasting statement piece against the cabinet and benchtop colours. The kitchen becomes a feature rather than a utilitarian space.”

A simple and easy style pick for your splashback is to match your splashback to your kitchen bench top. While this option means you’ll be playing it safe, it’s guaranteed to be an effective design that adds style to your kitchen.

Keeping your splashback clear is another of our favourite styles. It’s a great way to keep your kitchen visually appealing, lets in plenty of natural light and if you’re fortunate to have beautiful scenic views, a clear glass splashback will make the most of it!
“I love the idea of a clear splashback in a Kitchen. It opens the opportunity to be able to choose natural colours for the cabinetry and benchtop, but still bring in colour and texture from plants, screens and outdoor lighting that adds character to the heart of the home.” Said Preconstruction Coordinator Tanya Papalii.
A mirrored splashback adds great visual effects to your kitchen and will enhance your homes natural light. Using a mirrored splashback can also add a touch of glam to your kitchen.
Kitchen Designer Rebecca Taupin at The Maker said “A mirrored splashback can not only create the illusion of a bigger space, it can also allow the chef to be a part of the social atmosphere due to its reflective nature. It is also a good way to add another element into the space without complicating the colour palette.”

Choosing a white subway tile makes for a classic ageless look in your kitchen. It creates a seamless and versatile backdrop allowing for a range of tapware, lighting and cupboards.
