Customer stories: First home builders Scott and Lily
Lily and Scott had been renting for over a year when they started their building journey. Their plan was to always build as they wanted to be able to choose all the selections they liked, rather than buying an established home and having to change it.
“We looked at established early on and it just wasn’t what we wanted, there was too much we would have to change,” they recalled.
For the couple, building their own home gave them a sense of fulfillment.
“It’s a very fulfilling thought, you walk into your home and you feel like yes, this is what I’ve been saving for, this is what I’ve been working for,” they said.
“It feels so different living in your own home, you can do whatever you like. It’s nice to know when you come home after work that this is ours.”
For the couple, building their first home with Dale’s was a smooth, seamless experience.
“We really enjoyed the process as well, you know you go to site and they’ve done the brickwork, and you go back again, and they’ve done something different,” they said.
“We were really involved, we visited a couple of times a week.”
Seeing their home for the first time felt surreal for the couple.
“It was much better than I expected. To us, our home is nice, and we were quite blown away with how nice the finished product was,” they said.
Seeing their home come together from start to finish was very rewarding.
Lily and Scott’s advice for first home builders?
“Do your research, don’t rush and really spend the time to go to the show room,” the couple suggested.
“Don’t feel pressured that you’re on a timeline, it’s important to take your time. If you’re rushed, you can be irrational in your decision making.”
For Lily and Scott, it was an overall great building experience.
“We would build with Dale’s again. You finish the build and you almost feel like, damn I want to do that again!”
