Customer Stories: Meet Liz
Meet Liz, who couldn’t wait to trade her suburban townhouse for a brand-new country-style home close to both the beach and the bush. Liz had built three times before, but this build was extra special. Here’s her story.
“Moving from Innaloo to Wannanup was a huge lifestyle change for us, which meant we had certain ideas about what we wanted,” Liz says.
“We knew we’d never find a pre-loved property to suit, so build it was.”
Liz and her partner Bill had a clear vision for their spectacular new home, nestled between the estuary and the ocean, south-west of Mandurah.
Building was a chance to design something that not only suited their new lifestyle to a tee, but also incorporated all their favourite features.
“Attention to detail was paramount to me and everything was perfect.”
“The sliding barn doors, high raking ceilings, bush poles and weatherboards were all on the wish-list from the start,” Liz says. “My favourites are the timber benchtops, the floor coverings, the high ceilings and the fireplace. I love the home’s country feel.
But there was an even more important design feature to consider.
“The alfresco, kitchen, dining room and living room had to form one big, comfortable, open space,” Liz says. “It feels like a happy, open, family home – exactly what I wanted to achieve.”
The free-flowing indoor/out area is perfect for big get-togethers with the family, including young grandson Archie.
With such a relaxed, easy-going design there wasn’t any need for a formal entry.
But with all that lovely nature on their doorstep, Liz and Bill did want big walls of glass to make the most of their gorgeous bushland outlook.
