Customer Stories: Meet Heather & Rick
Meet Heather and Rick, who took the leap and built their dream home in the middle of bushland, trading their suburban home for a gorgeous farmhouse. It’s the second home the couple built with Dale Alcock Homes, and it’s also their last, as Heather and Rick settled into their forever home.
“We are very private people and we love spending time together with our two dogs, Mischa and Banksy. We wanted to build a sanctuary in the middle of nature, where we can enjoy the peace and quiet ,” Rick says.
“Sipping a glass of wine while gazing at the sun setting in the valley was our vision for this home.”
Nestled in the bushland of Brigadoon, Heather and Rick knew exactly how they wanted their spectacular new farmhouse design to look like. Building a home that was beautiful, functional and adaptable to their lifestyle was paramount to them:
“We really needed our home to capture the gorgeous views our block has to offer, but also enable us to both work from home in the future.”, explains Rick. “We love cooking and spend a lot of time trying new recipes so a big kitchen was a non negotiable for us. We also had a spacious main bedroom and ensuite on our wish list, as we really wanted to give it a resort feel”, the couple says.
Heather and Rick also wanted a large laundry, a home theatre and a generous living and dining space to entertain their friends and family, while enjoying the stunning valley views.
“We wanted a ‘rustic industrial’ look if there is such a thing. The design team were amazing and came up with the perfect look and feel, better than what we hoped for.”
A tree change, away from the busyness of the city was what the couple was seeking.
“Our home helps us relax. It’s very hard to get stressed when you are so close to nature. The views of the valley from our living, dining, kitchen and main bedroom are absolutely stunning. We haven’t done the gardens yet but love the connection from the inside to the outside of the home and are very much looking forward to having friends over for summer BBQ’s”, says Rick.
With the stunning bushland right at their door step, Heather and Rick don’t miss an opportunity to walk their two dogs around on the many walking trails close by.
