Your home has a unique footprint of your family, friends and work.

Embarking on the journey to homeownership can feel overwhelming. With countless floorplans to explore, varying inclusions to consider, it’s easy for everything to start blending together. But the most important factor to focus on is how these elements will enhance your daily life and personal well-being. Take the time to reflect on what truly matters to you and build from there.

To help, we’ve compiled some useful tips for reviewing floorplans, emphasizing design, style, and functionality, while pinpointing those key features that will make your home uniquely yours.

1. Choose a Trusted Builder.

As industry leaders for over 36 years, we’ve helped over 90,000 families in WA and VIC achieve homeownership. We’ve tested thousands of floorplans, continuously innovating based on real-life feedback. Our passion for quality builds means you’re in safe hands.

As part of ABN Group, Dale Alcock Homes controls its own service companies across plumbing, ceilings, concrete, roofing, and kitchens. This vertical integration ensures we can prioritize your home and expedite the process, while our National Supply Agreements give us priority access to building materials.

2. Identify Your Key Areas.

Start by focusing on the essentials and identify the three key areas that are most important for you and your family. For us, the most popular design choices are the Kitchen, Entertaining Zone, and Primary Bedroom. These spaces see the most activity and foot traffic, so it’s crucial that they flow seamlessly and function efficiently.

  • Would you prefer your kitchen and scullery closer to the garage for ease of unloading grocery shopping? Check out the Archipelago.
  • Or, would you prefer your kitchen and dining areas towards the rear of the home? Explore the Kimberley.
  • (Or get the best of both worlds with the Balmain!)
  • Consider the placement of your primary bedroom, would you prefer to be positioned away from the hustle and bustle of the entertaining zones? The Ferngrove could be ideal for you.
  • Or have the primary bed located towards the rear of the home for more privacy from the street. We love the Essence for this reason!

Each of these designs are on display across Perth, plan your journey here and get a clearer sense of how they could work for you and your family. Our New Homes Consultants will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

3. Consider Inclusions.

Inclusions, or the ‘base specification’ are the features included in the building contract for your new home. Compare specifications and inclusions between builders – you will be surprised to learn some provide a much greater choice than others, i.e. the number of taps or stone benchtop colours to choose from. Keep in mind, there’s no such thing as a ‘standard’ specification for a new home—each builder, home, and contract is unique.

Rest assured, these thoughtful details mean no unpleasant surprises when it’s time for your Selections Consultation. Read our full list of inclusions here.
