Customer stories: Brett and Eluise’s first-class building experience
A first-class building experience
For Brett, the family home had been sold and after spending time looking at where to buy they realised it just wasn’t ticking the boxes for what they were after.
“We started thinking about areas and schools, and when we found the area we liked, we said let’s build,” Brett recalled.
What was important for Brett when looking for a builder?
“Reputation, and not just what you hear but genuinely what the experience is like,” he said.
“Cost, and then inclusions, so what you really get once you’ve signed on the dotted line.”
For Brett and Eluise, the search for their builder began at display villages. “We spent a lot of time in display homes, I would say easily all up about 8-9 weekends. In some respect the same areas, constantly looking at the same things,” Brett told us.
“It was a lot about looking at design, framework and how it all fits together.”
The couple put a focus on functionality and wanted to create a home where the kids never wanted to leave.
They met James Brittain, one of our consultants, early on in displays.
“James was not overly pushy or assertive but certainly was the most professional person we met,” Brett told us.
Dale’s was initially not in the couple’s mind because of what they had heard in terms of price and cost, assuming it was beyond where the couple wanted to be.
“As we were going through the exercise we ended up having a list of four builders and James had come back to us a few times and said to come in and go through the process,” Brett recalled how when they left Dale’s in Osborne Park it was clear they had to go with us.
Talking about the building journey, Brett describes it as a real personal experience for the couple. “The milestones were really important to us, we were never really in a huge hurry to get in, but as soon as we really started to see things progress it was more excitement than anything.”
Brett’s favourite part of the home? Well, it depends if the Dockers are winning!
“If you ask me if the dockers are winning and they’re doing well, it will be the theatre room because I’m watching them win in that room.”
“I love the living area and the kitchen,” Brett explained. “We’ve got a little bar for entertaining that will be up and running with a beautiful splashback.”
