The heart of every Dale’s Home is a generous host who will welcome all with open arms.

Here are 5 simple tips to help prepare you and your family this holiday season. Whether you’re welcoming visitors for lunch or staying for a few days, now is the time to revitalise your space into a stylish, yet functional home that will wow your guests. An organised space will clear your mind, and help you focus on what’s important – family time.

1. Start with the Kitchen

Your kitchen is the hive. A place for families to come together to cook, clean, entertain. Starting here will create the foundations of how you organise the rest of your home, so do the larger, tedious area first!

Everything has a home: Just like us, our items need dedicated spaces. Start one section at a time and ‘zone’ each shelf with labelled baskets, ensuring similar items are grouped together in the same box. As you move through the rest of the home, ensure related items are returned to its home.

2. Locate your high priority items early.

During the colder months your Summer items may become lost in the home.

Use your time to prioritise what you need during these holidays: Festive decorations + wrapping if you celebrate, Sunscreen, bug sprays, seasonal decorations such as glassware. Ensure these items are easily accessible for the whole family.

Relocate your winter items: It’s time to pack away your cozy blankets, use tips from Step 1 to find a home for those winter items.

3. Ask for help

Summer Holidays means extra time with family – involve them!

Encourage kids to be responsible for a task: Teach them the value of decluttering and why we make space for what matters, and break tasks into manageable steps.

Make it fun: Turn organising into a game or challenge to keep everyone motivated. Invent a speed cleaning challenge, scavenger hunt, and play upbeat music to encourage positivity.

4. Refresh your space

Bring in the new season with a stylish flair!

Add summery touches: Such as fresh flowers or swapping your throw pillow covers for brighter colours. You don’t need to overhaul your whole space, but a few touches can revitalise your home and get you excited to welcome your guests.

Deep clean areas: Such as your windows, outdoor furniture and skirting boards. Tip: Add in a few drops of an essential oil to your multipurpose spray to ensure every area of your home smells stunning.
